Billy Idol Broadside
This project is a 13x19 broadside poster representing the song Eyes Without a Face by Billy Idol. The poster aims to reflect the aura of the music, and create a feeling similar to that of the sound. The style and content were shaped around the era of music and culture the song came from to ensure peak authenticity.
Concept & Process
I wanted to try and capture the dreamy vibe conveyed by the synths of the 80's, and create a feeling of being caught between being conscious and being unconscious.
The Product
I got to work on building the aesthetic I was going for, and I had decided to go with an alarm clock style that matched the color palette of the Rebel Yell album cover pretty well.
As my layouts started to come together, I experimented a lot with different hierarchies and focal points to try and see what best accomplished the overall goal of the broadside poster.
For this project, we were also tasked with translating our layout into a marketable instagram carousel format.
